How can you tell my level of ability and put me into the right class?

Apart from complete beginners, we ask students to complete our placement test when they enrol.

I don't understand anything in the class/I feel I am too advanced for the class. Can I drop down or move up a level?

Yes, just ask a member of staff and we will find a more appropriate class. Unfortunately this does occasionally happen for reasons that are out of our control, although we do make every effort to find a solution with which students can make further progress. If you start a complete new course, the cost of the classes you have already had will be charged.

Do I have to pay extra for a textbook or materials?

No, you don't. We dislike hidden charges as much as anyone else.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, just ask us to have one printed for you. It will be stamped and signed by either the school director or your teacher. There is a small charge of 200Kč.

Can I enrol anytime?

Yes, of course - just click on the enrol now link, and we will get back to you, usually within two working days or less.

How do I pay?

You can pay via the PayPal secure server, or before your class begins at our office. To be sure of a place, it is best to pay 5 working days before the class is scheduled to begin.

Can I choose a teacher from the Teachers page?

You can request the availability of a teacher, but we cannot guarantee they will end up teaching you. Whoever you get should be pretty good however.

Can I change my teacher?

This is no problem for individual lessons, but more tricky for group lessons. Obviously we take any complaints about teachers seriously and do our best to rectify the situation. Having said that, we have not had such a request as yet, and in fact our students have been very happy with their teachers.

Must I have a good level of Czech to join?

Of course not. Anyone can join our classes.

Must I have a good level of Czech to have phone lessons?

No, because virtually all our teachers are conversant in English, some of them can also speak German too. So if you are a beginner, although progress may be slow at first, it is still possible to learn over the phone.

Do I have to have all my individual or phone lessons together?

No, you don't, as long as you book the lessons in advance. However, we recommend having regular lessons because it allows students to make the most progress.

How soon can I book my lessons? How many can I book at once?
You can use the timetable that we will send you to book an individual or phone lesson whenever you want, from the following day up to a month in advance. You can book each phone lesson individually or in fives or tens (the latter will save you money). You can book a lesson with a teacher every day if you want to, providing they are available.

When can I start my individual or phone lessons?
You can start you lessons as soon as you have received your enrolment confirmation and have agreed to the schedule. Simply book the day and time the suggested teacher is available.

Can I cancel my booked lesson?
Yes, just send us an email to enrol@learn-czech.com at least 24 hours before your lesson begins and we will not charge you for that lesson. Unfortunately lessons cancelled within 24 hours are counted and are charged.

How does the teacher call me? Are there any extra charges?

We use the best internet voice exchange there is on the market. Technically it is not quite the same as an ordinary phone call, but efforts are continually being made to make call quality as close to perfect as possible. For Learn-czech student purposes however, it is great.

What do I need to receive calls over the internet?

You need a broadband connection and a PC. Once you enrol, we will send you simple instructions about how to download Skype software (www.skype.com) which not only allows you to communicate with us for no extra charges, but with anyone in the world!

Can I have lessons on a normal land line?

Yes, that is no problem. There is an extra charge of costs incurred calling whatever country you are in.

Can teachers call me on my cell or mobile?

No, at the moment it is not practical.
